In characteristic fashion, a specially selected team of experts was assembled from RISC, the RABA engineering staff, and associated partners (in this instance UMCP, and UC-Davis) to work the problem. The team spent several weeks evaluating a system comprised of 16,000 touch-screen terminals, forty four Dell Servers, 160 smart card programmers, and 285,000 lines of proprietary C++ source code. RISC's efforts culminated in a day-long Red Team exercise that uncovered numerous, potentially catastrophic, flaws. These results, together with mitigating recommendations, were detailed in a report and summarized in testimony to the Maryland legislature. RISC's Red Team effort was, and remains, the only independent assessment of an electronic voting system in the United States. Press coverage included the Associated Press, New York Times, Washington Post, and TIME Magazine. Network coverage included CBS, ABS, MSNBC, NPR, and Dutch-Belgian public TV. RISC security recommendations were adopted by the California Secretary of State for implementation throughout California. They are being written into legislation in Ohio, and have been endorsed by the Leadership Conference for Civil Rights and the Brennen Center for Justice at NYU. Click here to see the NPR story. Apply Now Home Careers r-port Corporate Company History From RABA's humble beginnings in 1994, founder Robert Baruch set out with the goal of creating a differentiated peer-based consulting company capable of tackling the most complex and intractable technology problems something missing in the marketplace at the time. The key to success was being selective about people, and selective about the assignments undertaken. Initially serving the Defense and Intelligence communities, RABA soon branched out to service other federal and commercial markets with its special breed of consultants. In the ensuing years, RABA earned a reputation for its exceptional people and a consistent ability to deliver intelligent solutions. Reputation and word-of-mouth carried RABA forward to numerous successes and honors including many individual awards of distinction from the Federal government, the Deloitte and Touche Fast 50 and Fast 500 awards, and culminating with the selection of Robert Baruch as a finalist for the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. In the year 2000, having been recognized for its strong web-centric eBusiness solutions and qualifications, a proven project management and engineering-based engagement model, and a growing global content management services practice, RABA merged with Capita Technologies, part of Interpublic Group of Companies (NYSE: IPG ). In July 2002, RABA was reacquired by founding management due to the fact that Capita did not remain an integrated entity of IPG and IPG/Capita had no interest in pursuing opportunities in the Federal marketplace.
